CLONING A HARD DRIVE
WARNING: I'm using Windows 98SE and Norton Ghost 2003 to clone from a basic hard drive to a basic hard drive. This is called basic disk to disk cloning. The Ghost program can do much more than the simple cloning that I need. To learn more about its many uses, read the Ghost instruction manual.
"To clone a basic disk "Basic disk" is the term used in Windows 2000 and Windows XP to indicate that the disk is not a dynamic disk. That is, a basic disk does not include simple, mirrored, spanned, striped, or RAID-5 volumes. To clone a basic disk, run Ghost as usual."
The following quotations are from Ghost help files on the WWW.

2. Disk to disk clone:
Here are two addresses for more information on cloning with Norton Ghost 2003. If you have a different version of Ghost, you can find information at www.symantec.com/support. You can copy and paste the following addresses into your Web Browser's address line:
It's also important to mention that a hard drive cloned on a specific computer should be used on the same computer or on one containing identical hardware; if not, your hardware drivers will be incorrect and they will have to be changed. This is covered in the Ghost instruction manual which is included within your Ghost program.

I have found it simple to clone disk to disk from within Windows. The simple instructions are located in your Ghost Instruction Manual. Ghost 2003 lists the 10 step information in Chapter 3, pages 39 and 40.

Before you attempt cloning, read my warning notice located on page C1, paragraph 1.

(Please note that I'm now dual booting Win98SE and Ubuntu Linux (ext 3 file system) on this computer. All the text below still applies - they both clone in the same operation).
