If you are interested enough to read this far, thank you. It's taken me hours to learn it and several hours trying to explain it. You can see why I couldn't possibly answer many questions about cloning to people who ask, by writing all this into Emails and even with all this writing and explaining, there is still much left for you to learn and do - but you can learn it and do it.

Remember, no matter how similar computers are, computers, like people, are all different. Seemingly identical computers may act and react differently to the same situation. So your cloning experience may differ from mine but I've tried to hit enough high spots to get you started. As I stated at the beginning of this writing, getting past your first clone is the hard part.

I frequently run into problems with every aspect of building, upgrading, repairing and programming but I always find a way to work out of those problems. I tell my wife, "It's simple" and she tells me, "It may be simple to you but most of us don't know what the heck you're talking about." Sometimes I forget that. If what I write is unclear, let me know and I'll try to clear it up.

If you use Windows XP, using a cloned hard drive will require some extra steps to make Microsoft happy. The following Website explains it in detail. Read it before you begin cloning XP.
